Welcome! This article is part of the Quick Start for Teachers.
In this step, you’ll get to know the curriculum and decide when and where students will use it. Once you’ve explored the program, you’ll be ready to plan your weekly routine.
What You’ll Do in This Step
- Review and update active courses.
- Assign lessons and activities.
- Choose when students will use the program.
- Set routines and expectations.
1: Review active courses for your students.
Each student is automatically assigned to course(s) based on the grade level of their homeroom class in Footsteps2Brilliance. You can adjust active course settings at any time to better match student needs.

2: Assign lessons and activities.
You can assign specific activities to support your instruction—whether you’re teaching foundational skills, vocabulary, or comprehension.
To assign content:
- Log in to Footsteps2Brilliance Central at myf2b.com.
- Search or browse to a lesson or game.
- Click Assign to Students and follow the prompts.
Explore > Browse Alignments to find content aligned to your classroom curriculum

How students complete your assignments:
Students see your assignments on their Home screen in the “From My Teacher” mailbox. While an assignment is active, their course content is locked to help them stay focused. Once the assignment is complete, their courses unlock automatically.
Need to override the lock? Teachers or families can unlock the course by clicking the lock icon and entering a username and password.
3. Choose when students will use the program.
Once you’re familiar with the curriculum, it's important to decide how it fits into your weekly routine. Footsteps2Brilliance should be used at least 3–4 times per week for about 15–20 minutes per session.
Common times to use the program include:
- Literacy centers – independent or small group
- Early finishers – meaningful next step after classwork
- Before/after school – extended learning time
- Whole group – model a book, game, shared writing activity, or song together
- At home – engage families in activities aligned with your classroom instruction
4. Set routines and expectations.
Before students begin working independently, take time to:
- Model how to log in and navigate the app.
- Explain your expectations: how often, where, and what students should do.
- Reinforce that students must complete assignments before exploring other content.
