The following article outlines expectations as we archive 2023-2024 classes and prepare for next school year:


When does Footsteps2Brilliance archive the current school year classes?

On July 31st, Footsteps2Brilliance will archive all of the 2023-24 school year classes. If this date conflicts with any strategic timelines for your district, please work with your Client Success Manager to identify an alternate date to archive your district’s classes.


What happens to data when classes are archived?

Archived classes continue to appear in reports. All of your usage data will be intact. In reports, you can select date ranges that include 2023-24 school year dates to see classes from 2023-24. Because the classes are no longer in session, they no longer appear in Class Management. 


What happens to accounts when classes are archived?

All of your users (students, parents, teachers, administrators, and literacy ambassadors) will continue to have access to Footsteps2Brilliance during the transition between school years. Login credentials and Super Secret Codes do not change with the new school year.


How do we set up new class rosters for 2024-25?

Use our custom CSV import templates.

You can find the Footsteps2Brilliance user import templates in the app under Resources > Toolkits > Technical Toolkits. These templates have not changed. If you have set up import files in the past, the format is the same. These files can be shared via sFTP or emailed to support@footsteps2brilliance.com.


Upload a OneRoster™ version 1.1 package.

We accept OneRoster 1.1 formatted files (see specifications here). If your Student Information System or data management team can export data in OneRoster 1.1 format, this may be an ideal solution for you. Please alert your Client Success Manager if you plan to use this new feature so that we can provide additional details and set up your sFTP location for upload.


With either option above, we encourage you to take advantage of our nightly user import feature. This feature enables you to update accounts and rosters when you set up your Student Information System to automatically upload files to our sFTP each day. How can I ensure 2024-25 rosters are set up quickly?

While our support team is always ready to go the extra mile to get your rosters set up quickly, there are a few things you can do that will expedite the rostering process:

  1. Plan ahead. If you have a professional development event planned, send us your import templates at least 2 weeks in advance. This way, you can review and address any changes that happen at the beginning of the school year.
  2. Be complete. Check your import templates before you send them to us. Make sure that you have provided all required information. 
  3. Be consistent. Make sure the IDs and email addresses on this year's imports are consistent with data you provided last year. Let us know right away if we should anticipate a change in email domain or ID format.
  4. Be responsive. We will let you know right away if there are questions or issues with the data you have sent. We recommend that you assign a point person who is responsible for responding and resolving issues as quickly as possible. 


IMPORTANT NOTE:

In order to successfully transition teacher and student accounts from one school year to the next, you must send us the same student IDs and employee IDs year over year. Please take a few minutes to review the ID formats associated with your Footsteps2Brilliance accounts before you set up your templates. If you need to change the IDs associated with accounts for next year, please notify support@footsteps2brilliance.com as soon as possible. We will work with you to create a custom transition plan.
